The biggest mistake 90% of LinkedIn creators are making (and how to avoid it)
Yo!
Ben Buaron here, Israeli Founder 🇮🇱 of Windmill Growth, currently 9 months into the process…
And Happy New Year!
I’m sure you’re tired of seeing everyone’s 2024 yearly recaps…
So I'll try to keep mine short, even though it's almost impossible to tell you everything I learned in one newsletter after quitting my 6-figure tech job and becoming a Founder...
But to spare your time I'll try to describe it in one sentence:
It was an insane ride that I would do over and over again.
Alright let’s jump into this week’s newsletter
Today we’re covering:
The mistake 90% of LinkedIn creators are making (and how to avoid it)
Why your business will sink if you don’t take time off
Some insane tech we’ve been cooking up at Windmill
Let’s do it!
Windmill Updates
I don’t think I have been this excited to share an update about Windmill in a while…
So because I’m biased we’re going to start out with that. (hope you don’t mind 😅)
Here’s our biggest updates:
We have started building a new custom post-feedback generator. Started to gather a waiting list for this amazing tool.
We are launching an AI personalized commenter that is based on your LinkedIn activity
And we FINALLY have our new website live, this is a huge milestone. Would love to hear your thoughts about it via reply!
Overall we have been putting a lot of work into our growth and building tech behind the scenes.
LinkedIn Insights Of The Week 📱
I really think people need to start posting more TikTok-type videos on LinkedIn.
This is super underrated way to connect with your audience…
And I believe it will allow you to extend your reach by a HUGE amount because people like to consume content in different ways.
Also, this will build a more intimate relationship with your followers.
Creating trust faster.
(I recently made a post like this if you want to check it out)
Another trend I’m seeing as far as content is everyone treating posting like a slot machine.
Post. Pray. Repeat.
They're just posting for the sake of posting…
And praying to go viral.
The problem with this is strategy is that you are not putting any thought into the consumer.
Which 99% of the time will result in a post that doesn’t trigger any emotion.
When was the last time you shared a post that made you feel nothing?
Exactly.
Every viral post has one thing in common - it made people FEEL something…
And you are not going to get that with brain dead content.
Here are list of emotions you should aim for when creating content:
Anger 😠 - Call out industry BS
Joy 🎉 - Share genuine wins
Relief 😌 - Solve real problems
Fear 😨 - Expose hidden risks
Hope ⭐ - Show what's possible
This is always the first step we do at Windmill when creating content for our clients.
Remember: nobody shares content that doesn’t make them feel something.
Founder Lesson
This past week I unlocked a new philosophy:
A business will NEVER outgrow the personal growth of its Founder.
Why?
As a Founder, you’re the leader. You set the vision, the direction, the culture.
But when you're always:
Buried in Slack messages
Jumping from meeting to meeting
Caught in the day-to-day chaos
You lose sight of where you're steering…
And that's when your business hits the iceberg and sinks.
I learned this firsthand last month.
I went on a Founder Retreat and did something scary…
I barely worked for 7 days straight.
No laptop.
No meetings.
No posts.
Just worked on goal-setting, relationship-building, and mindset.
Also added some workouts in there… 💪
But the result?
I came back 10x more focused on our vision…
And fired up to get back to work.
This isn't about working less.
It's about working better.
Because when you grow, your business follows.
Alright, that wraps up this week's Windmill Flow...
Keep crushing it.
Chao!
